Healthy and Ready To Learn

Our Mission

The Kurka Children’s Health Fund is committed to helping students of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to be ready to learn by improving the health status of its most vulnerable children and youth.

  • Operate

with a volunteer Board of Directors that manages the work of the fund.

  • Work

directly with school nurses, principals, and teachers who identify students in need of vision, dental and medical services.

  • Collaborate

closely with the LAUSD eye clinics to provide vision exams and glasses at a reduced rate for eligible students.

  • Reimburse

clinics and medical providers for a variety of medical services rendered to students.

  • Provide

grants towards fees for professional workshops, scholarships, honorariums, awards and other health related projects for vision, dental, health and immunizations.

  • Engage

in fundraising activities that allow us to fulfill our mission. Partner with LAUSD and eleven other charities that participate in the Sharing Brings Hope Consolidated Campaign.
